His return to Allah (SWT) is more felt by the innumerable young boarding students in his numerous Koranic schools whom he loved and cherished a lot, he was seen as a father, a mother, a friend, a confident and a grandfather so on and so forth; everything symbolizing in their eyes a role model and an archetype as young as they are ,could be found in their namesake Serigne Saliou . He has dedicated his entire life to the perpetuation of his venerated father’s legacy, which could be summed in two words-Teaching Islam, the Sunnah and helping the indigents and poor people. his return to Allah (SWT) should'nt be mourning moments for us , but instead moments of thanks and praises for his peacefull rest in the company of the blessed in Heaven.
He was the embodiement of the perfect sufi, a complete ascetic, detached from the matters of this worldly life. We all remember him stating in his first inaugural speech that: beside perpetuating the legacy of Khadimou Rassoul, his venerated father ,and Islam, norhing would be of his concern let alone incite his least comments. He has been faithful to this sacerdoce in his accomplished lifetime in defending Islam, the religion of Prophet Muhammad, in fulfilling his mission as the fifth heir of Murridiyya and leader of the murid community.
He has immortalized the concept of Qidma- or work, in his farms at Khelcom, the fruit of which help to feed thousands of families and students every year. One cannot count his many achievements since he ascended the caliphate after the short ministry of his brother and friend Serigne Abdul Khadre in 1990.
